Today's Featured Biography

Edwin Forgey Jr.

Edwin Neal Forgey Jr.
Nickname: Ed to general public - Jay to family.
Birthplace: Lebanon, Missouri
Birthdate: April 11, 1944
Last Residence: Tracy, California

Wife & Life Partner: Laura Ann Dauphinais
married: June 23 1967

Ed was raised on Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas and Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico then Baumholder West Germany, in a Strict Military environment until he left home in 1962.

After High school Ed worked in several Manufacturing Jobs. Never feeling satisfied in Manufacturing work, he joined the U.S. Army on March 23, 1965, for a four year enlistment and got out on March 21, 1969.

During his service in the Army Security Agency, a branch of Military Intelligence, he spent 18 months overseas, from January 1966 – June 1967, and the balance in school, as either a student,or as an instructor at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. His rank at exit from the Army was SSG E-6, awarded in June 1968.
The ASA was disbanded by President R. Nixon in 1972, during his rearrangement of the entire U.S. Military Intelligence Services, along with General Westmorland. Best of friends!

Ed married his high school sweetheart, Laura Ann Dauphinias in Lowell, Massachusetts on June 23, 1967.

On leaving the military Ed & Laura moved to the Newark, Ohio area, where they bought a home and raised 3 superior children! Brian Jude, Christine Ann, Cynthia Ann.

Ed went to work as an electronic tester at Western Electric in Columbus, Ohio.

Two years later he tested and interviewed for a joint 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers & Owens Corning Fiberglass Co. in
Newark, Ohio where he spent the following 16 years Learning and enjoying his Trade as a
Journeyman Electrician. Then Ed made a personal mistake & jumped into management,
which did not suit him.

Work became shaky in Ohio and Ed applied to, and was hired by, The American National Can Co
in Birmingham, Alabama, which after paying his expenses there, decided 1.5 years later to
relocate to Mexico. While they were in process of moving out Ed Sold his 65 acre Farm & began a Job search.

Ed selected, then sent a copy of his resume to NUMI Co. (New United Motor Incorporated) in California, which responded with a roundtrip airline ticket for a live interview. After moving to California, Ed worked at NUMI for another 2 years when NUMI decided to relocate to Mexico.

Thinking there was no way that the "Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory" would relocate out of the country, & having held a Top Secret/security clearance in the Army, Ed applied there and was hired! He spent the following 9+ years helping to Maintain the Facility Electrical System (120vac - 40KV)
Single Phase/3 Phase, troubleshooting/repair work he truly enjoyed.

Ed & Laura bought a home in Tracy, California where they finally retired.

After retirement Ed developed a penchant for target shooting with his Ruger .22LR Target Pistol with a Red Dot Target scope which was his retirement present to himself and visited the Tracy Rifle and Pistol Range to burn up 100 rounds per week.
