Today's Featured Biography
Chris "Dobie" Hodet
I moved to K-town in 1988 from California.
I was a skate-punk kid usually recognized by the changing hairstyles (from the "flop" skater/surfer look, to the mohawk, to the 2 mohawks to come later). I was usually pretty quiet but was at the loud, abnoxious, wild and crazy end of the spectrum in my cirlce of friends. I was usually "messed up" on something. Sometime along the way my friends and I formed a punkrock band, "People's Temple". We played at the Vogelweh AYA, "Spring Fling", The Irish House and various parties. The band changed members a few times but turned out to be: Me - Vocals, Coleman Thornburg - Lead Guitar, Shane Cooper - Bass Guitar, Brad Wegg - Drums. Other members at different times included: Ian King, Paul Cooper, Jeff Burke, "Bowlo" and Brian Phillips. Of course we all ended up leaving Deutschland at different times and the band broke up. I landed in South Dakota in 1992 and began to attend college as a psychology major. After a near death experience on another "wasted" night, I cried out to God to preserve my life. The next few years kept me busy dabbling in Hinduism, The Hare Krsna Movement, Native American Spirtualism and Buddhism. I told myself I would never turn to the Bible/Christianity, but found myself in a Bible seminar in 1997 after not finding God in the other belief systems. That year I became a Christian, went to a 3-month intensive Bible school, then spent the next few years traveling through the U.S. doing Bible seminars with an evangelism team. I landed in Michigan in 2001 and became invloved in Pastoral ministry. I got married in 2003, had a son in 2005 and am currently the Pastor of a 95 member church, while at the same time, I am attending the seminary to get a Master's degree. Our Home is in Berrien Springs, Mi for now. We look forward to being with you in our heavenly home sometime soon!
