Today's Featured Biography
Dallas Brown
Dallas left AFCENT (as it was then known) and flew back to the USA in the sumemr of 1975. He went to McCluer North High School in Florissant MO, (St Louis area), graduating in 1976. Attending York College in 1976-78, he met Beth Croxson's little sister when he was a sophomore and she was a freshman. (Sue C?)
Dallas then finished school at Lubbock Christian University in 1980 with a B.S. in mathematics, then returned to become a certified teacher in 1987. He earned a B.S. Ed. at that time.
Dallas spent fourteen years as a teacher in the Lubbock area, but then in the year 2000, he went into a new career. After a five week training course with the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice, Dallas became a correctional officer in the Texas prison system, (TDCJ). He worked the night shift for three years, then the day shift for another three years.
Unfortunately, Dallas became afflicted with Parkinson's disease in 2002, and by 2006, he became unable to fulfill his duties as an officer. Safety was at stake for he and his fellow workers, so he left that career, with few regrets but also a few good memories of co-workers he truly cared about. They cared for him too. He finished six years of service to the State of Texas in June, 2006.
Dallas published his first book of poetry in March of 2007 (earlier this year), and he expects that the second book will be out by December, 2007. His goal is to finish and publish twelve books with themes relating to the human tragedy of desperate living in contrast to the wonderful blessings that are available through our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is eager to hear from friends, especially on this subject. Write to his email address shown on this site.
If you check some of the genral websites selling books these days, look him up by author, and you'll likely find those first two books, at least by the end of the year. And if you wish to email your phone number, Dallas will gladly call back and reacquaint himself with you and your family. God bless.
