When my kids ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I tell them I will let them know when it happens! Now in the "best" years of my life, I neither grew up mentally or vertically. My sense of humor chronically gets me in trouble, especially in church! From the beginning, I never felt the need to climb any proverbial ladder, & at only five feet tall, I'm always on some kind of ladder anyway. Although I have no Masters or BA degrees, I am quite successful in what I have done in my life & I thank God everyday for what I am given. In the thirty years since I was thrown from the nest, I have been employed for National Parks, ski resorts, & Bed & Breakfasts & the paychecks were just a bonus at the end of the week. We live at 7,000 ft. in southern Colorado,(Durango),with a view of the Rocky Mountains off our back deck. The wildlife on our property assumes they are pets & the stars at night seem to shine just for me. I have the joy of sharing all this with an awesome family. Two stepsons,(28 & 30) who have both served our country twice in Iraq & between them, have given us four grandsons. My son, Ryan (19) who is an executive chef, my daughter Bailey (all of 15) who is in 10th grade with a future in modeling, & then there is "mini me", Bethany (10), who I home school.Two dogs, two cats, one fish, picket fence, clean air, mountains 13,000 feet high, good health, life long friends, a loving family, The Denver Bronco's, a great church, softball and "lots" of laughs. Combine all that, & I consider that an accomplishment. I have no college diploma hanging on my wall, but my extended education has been consuming tacos in Mexico, learning French in Canada, & my personal favorite...sipping Margarita's pool side in Hawaii. Running from bears & screaming is next in Alaska.Life is good. Oh, & did I mention, not a gray hair on my head yet? That must mean something! Can't wait for the reunion and seeing the ol' hometown. I bet it's not the same after 30 years. Aloha & God Bless.
