Howard Sparrow

Greetings! I was introduced to this website from an East High School class of 86' buddy. I still can't believe our 20th year reunion is soon coming up, these years seem to go so fast.
After graduation I bounced around from school to school, deciding what I was meant to do with my life. First there was UAA, but it was too boring. Then it was UAF, but that was too much fun. Then soon after I followed a friend down states to Kansas to attend a small junior college. And that was just right. After JC graduation, I continued with UAF and finished with a BA in History and Education. While in Fairbanks, I had the chance to live in a quiet cabin, truly Alaskan style. I still laugh at those times, wondering how I would get water out there, and also, how to transport the trash. Wanting to relax, I took a teacher assistant position with FNA Headstart, which turned out to be the best year of my life. Twenty or so little four and five year olds, running around, really kept the blood flowing!
Still not satisfied, I traveled down to Colorado to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango. Finding success in their Teacher Certification program, I found many teaching options in the American Southwest. But as the time flew by, I knew I had to come home.
This is my fifth year teaching English to freshmen and sophmores at Dimond High School for Cook Inlet Tribal Council. In this position, I work strictly with American Indian and Alaska Native students, helping them to pass the AHSGQE and graduate. Even though it may seem I'm a Lynx, I know in my heart, a T-Bird could kick its butt anytime!!
