Major Madison, Jr.

Major E. Madison, Jr., was President of the Senior Class of the Williamson High School Class of 1966. He was also Valedictorian.

In the United States, the title of Valedictorian is given to the student with the highest academic rank in a graduating class of an educational institution. This student delivers the valedictory at graduation.

The honor is traditionally based on either grades and overall grade point average (gpa), or a vote of the graduating students, but consideration is also given to other factors such as extracurricular activities. The title is derived from the valedictorian's traditional role as the speaker at the graduation ceremony.

Madison attended Tuskegee Institute, now Tuskegee University, and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Management. Also in 1970 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Major attended Harvard Univsity's ISSP Summer 1968; served 3 years, 8 months, and 3 days as a Minuteman Missile Launch Officer.

Major married Benita Eileen Johnson, August 4, 1973 in Independence, Missouri. He earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in 1974 while on active duty from the University of Missouri-Columbia thru AFIT-MMEP. Additionally, Madison earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law from the University of Misssouri-Kanss City Law School in 1978.

Madison worked for Hallmark Cards' wholly owned subsidiary-Ambassador Greeting Cards (1974-1975); State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company (1979-1981); private practice of law in Mobile, Alabama (1981-1988); and (1992-1995).

He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1994; taught Criminal Justice at Langston University, Tulsa, oklahoma (1995-1997); served as Vice-President of Institutional Advancement at Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma; and, participated in Oxford University Roundtable, Oxford, England (July-August 2001).

Madison initiated first-ever "contracting" initiative at Langston University earning $5,000,000 in Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) contracts resulting in $500,000 unrestricting funds for the university; currently serving as Associate Dean for Development at Concordia College -- Selma, Alabama.

Major and Benita's beloved eldest daughter, Ann-Michelle, 28 (Michael), passed away in 2006 in Glendale, California. Younger daughter, Priscilla, 26 (Antonio) has completed her degree in Veterinary Medicine School at Tuskegee University. Daughter Jacqueline, 20 (Maurice) completed her degree in Biology at Tuskegee University. All three daughters married over a nine-month period in 2005 and 2006.
