Today's Featured Biography
Michael Barragree
USAF 11/60 - 01/68
Married Nancy Marentette 01/26/1963
Bellevue College 07/67 BA History/Education
Computer programmer/consultant Denver 1969 - 2001. Adult Education COBOL instructor for Denver Community College and Arapahoe Community College.
Moved to San Lorenzo, New Mexico 2001 where I have been a substitute teacher, delivered mail on an 87 mile rural route, EMT Basic for 5 years, Seasonal worker at National Fire Cache shipping firefighting supplies, Census worker, volunteer firefighter, wrangler for a local outfitter. Currently working for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator as a Field Deputy Medical Investigator for Grant County.
Nancy and I celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in January. We met in Chemistry class in our Senior year at Salpointe. It was our only class together. Her birthday is 2/13 and mine is 4/26. When I registered for the Selective Service the first 6 digits of my Selective Service number was her birthday.
Salpointe Moments:
My thanks to Sr. Miriam Jane for introducing me to Leon Uris. In our Senior Year she was reading Exodus and recommended that we students should put it on our reading list.
Sr. Rose Louise was my algebra, biology and chemistry teacher. I put her down as a reference for my security background check for the Air Force and she was absolutely surprised and at the same time honored that Mr. Barragree did that.
My friend and classmate, Greg Robertson, had a mother who went to school with Sr. Rose Louise and she disclosed to me Sr. Rose Louise's pre-Nun name.
One day Sr. Rose Louise and I were alone in the Chemistry classroom. Sr. Rose Louise was giving me a hard time about something and I responded with "Now, (her real name) you do not have to be so hard on me."
Her jaw fell open, she gave me the evil eye and said "What did you just call me?" I repeated her name. She then wanted to know where I had heard that name and I told her a little birdie told me. It was the only time that her real name came up and I never told anyone else. She was my favorite teacher and we played psychological warfare for three years.
Do any of you remember listening to the radio, in class, the California execution of Caryl Chessman 5/2/1960? It was a famous case for the death penalty. I can't remember what class or who the teacher was. I believe it was Sr. Miriam Jane. My photograpic memory has run out of film.
In P.E. the coach introduced the class to Field Hockey, which was the term used for soccer at that time. We were running up and down the field, passing the ball, learning the rules. The coach was running along side me and passed the ball to me. I immediately passed the ball back to him. He accidently stepped on the ball, fell and broke his ankle. The soccer lesson ended and the first aid class began.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
