Today's Featured Biography
Elva Morgan Metchnikoff
Elva Morgan-Metchnikoff, 50, passed away May 20, 2007, in a traffic accident in Coalinga, CA. Elva’s son Christopher was battling cancer and she dedicated all her spare time caring for his health, driving him to and from San Francisco for treatment. In doing so, she lost her beloved school teaching job for taking the time off she needed.
She was driving her son Christopher back to San Francisco on I-5, on May 20, when they crashed. Her son was ejected from the vehicle suffering multiple injuries as was the puppy they had just adopted from an animal shelter. Elva died on the scene of the accident.
Elva was born July 27, 1956, in Los Angeles. She grew up in El Monte and married Alex Metchnikoff of Covina, CA. They Lived in Covina and Baldwin Park for many years while both worked for Southern California Edison. She then lived in the Apple Valley for over 20 years. Elva retired from 18 years of Edison and went back to College earning her Masters degree. She taught fourth grade at Eagle Ranch Elementary school in Victorville. She loved being a schoolteacher, a mom and a grandma. Elva is survived by her husband of 29 years, Alex Metchnikoff of Victorville; her sons, Brandon Metchnikoff, and Christopher Metchnikoff, her grandson, Noah Metchnikoff, her mother, Josefina Morgan of El Monte; sisters, Teresa and Benita Morgan and many loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 15, 2007, 2pm at Family Life Church, 15384 Tamarack, Victorville, CA. 92392. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UCSF Foundation, on behalf of Christopher Metchnikoff. PO BOX 0248, San Francisco, CA. 94143-0248
