Today's Featured Biography
Deb Mercier Peters
After graduating in ’75 I moved with my family to Minnesota where my folks are from originally. Of course I thought then.... If I don’t like it, I can move back. That was over 39 years ago now. I must have found some fun here in the North Country. Actually found my best friend & husband, Ron.
We have always lived in and around the metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul. I went to Augsburg College and graduated with a BA in Accounting/Finance/Economics. My first job was at a cost accountant at a division of Control Data Corp (which doesn’t exist in its original form). It was later bought by Seagate Technology (Scotts Valley, CA). This is where I met my husband Ron, on a company bowling league of all things. Well, we hit it off and were married in ’89. Ron still works for Seagate in Manufacturing Engineering. We don’t have any children but several nieces and nephews to spoil.
I went on to work for a few other manufacturing companies as I progressed through my business career as the Controller for several manufacturing and distribution companies.
My love of music has never faltered. I started playing in a local community band - Medalist Band of Bloomington (www.MedalistBand.com) when I was a freshman in college in order to make a few friends. I was commuting at the time and we lived in Bloomington (home of the Mall of America), where we also now make our home. I am completing my 39th year with the band and have made some great relationships including trips abroad to Scandinavia and the U.S.
I love to cook, make jewelry, and attend art fairs in whatever spare time we can squeeze in. Of course, summers in Minnesota are valued highly and mean spending time outside. We spend it in our garden or on one of the local lakes boating/fishing when we can or visiting a cabin up in Northern MN.
