Dennis Falke

Dennis Falke
I graduated from Monterey Peninsula College and played football my second year. One of the highlights of my life. I really enjoyed playing on that team; it was a lot of fun.
I was drafted into the Army and was sent to the NCO (non-commissioned officers school), later to be known as the “shake and bakes”. We were trained for 20 more weeks by Rangers and eventually I was sent to Vietnam to serve with the 101st Airborne. I was in the 2/506th E. Co, the same company that became famous by the WWII era Paratroopers known as the Band of Brothers. I’m still very close to the group of guys I served with and am happy to say most of us returned home.
I returned home from Vietnam and eventually married Vicki Osborne. She had two boys from a previous marriage and I became the father of her two boys. We moved to Port Angeles Washington for about four years, didn’t like the weather and moved to Bandon, Oregon. My father in law had invited me to commercial fish with him.
I was a commercial fisherman for 15 years and a seafood plant manager for about 6 years. I enjoyed my time in the heyday of salmon fishing on the Oregon Coast. I loved it.
I got my contractor’s license and was a General Contractor for about 8 years until I was forced to retire because of Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis has slowed me down, I am unable to travel which is why I can’t attend the reunion. I still love visitors and would welcome any of my classmates to stop by if you’re passing through Bandon, OR.
I have been a part of Point Man Ministries, a veteran outreach, for about 15 years. We have been able to help many veterans with their VA claims and I keep in touch with a lot of the guys. Since MS has hampered my moving around I don’t attend the meetings anymore. If any of you are veterans and are having trouble with VA claims, give me a call. I’m humbled to be able to help vets.
I was lucky to marry the love of my life and have two successful boys along with two beautiful granddaughters. What more could a man ask for?
My life has been a joy. I’ve been a follower of Jesus Christ all my life but, as we all do, I fall daily. He has sustained me thus far and for that I’m grateful. I hope to see you all in heaven at the 100th reunion.
