Today's Featured Biography
Kellus Sewell
Born in Albuquerque, NM on April 24, 1944. Hometown Estancia, NM until parents moved to Albuquerque when in the 6th grade. Attended Monte Vista Grade School, Jefferson Junior High School, and Highland High School. After graduating in 1962 went straight to Fairbanks, Alaska to attend the University of Alaska for 1.5 years, then returned for one semester at the UNM, and two and half years at the University of Arizona in Tucson, switching majors from Accounting and graduating with a B.S. in Actuarial Mathematics. Worked summers as a cadastral and aviation airport surveyor all over Alaska from Pt. Barrow, most Northern Point in North America, to Southeast Alaska. After graduation worked as an Economist and Unemployment insurance actuary for the Alaska Dept. of Labor, followed by Governor Hammond�s appointment as the Administrative Director of the Alaska Dept. on Administration. Afterwards, pursued his fishing passion purchasing the 46 foot, 20 Gross Ton F/V Nord in Winchester Bay, Oregon. He added a crab tank and 300 Dungeness crab pots, then sailed to Juneau, Alaska to fish King Salmon on the outer Pacific coast -100 miles offshore in the Fairweather Grounds, and Dungeness crab in Channels North and West of Juneau. All crab were shipped �live� to his employee in San Francisco for his tanks on Fisherman�s� Wharf for distribution to restaurants and retailers. Then becoming a seafood trader, followed by a Management and Acquisition Consultant to major Int�l and Domestic seafood industry leaders in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Canada and the USA.
Kellus married once and divorced, a couple partners for short periods, then settled for 30 years with his current partner, Carol Woodward, who he met in Phoenix while contracting for the major Arizona seafood distributor. Kellus has no children, but several pets including Ranger, his horse as a child, and Buck his dog shown in the following John Kosel �Rising Star� oil painting; 2nd photo: Zorro - Tish Tzu Left Zorro a Shi Tzu and Spirit, St Bernard, Malemute, Siberian.
