Event Announcement!
Memorial for Lorie Atencio
Dear Classmates:
As most of you know, we lost our dear friend, Lorie Atencio on December 23rd. Her family would like to extend an invitation to the JFK Class of '72 to join in a special memorial for her on Sunday, April 28th from 1:00 to 4:00 at Vibe Coffee and Wine at 1490 Curtis Street in Denver. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to her sister Vivian at [email protected]. If you cannot attend and would like to send a special memory of Lorie to her family, you can also email it to Vivian.
Lorie was a huge supporter of the Children's Hospital Blood Bank, donated regularly and was in the 1,000 gallon club! The Children's Hospital Foundation supports the blood bank so if you would like to contribute in her name, please go to their website at Childrenscoloradofoundation.org and click on the "donate now" tab.
Thanks to the generosity of our classmates for the 50th reunion, we were able to contribute a small amount from our class to Lorie's memorial.
Lorie will be so missed and our heartfelt condolences go out to her family. Please plan to attend the open house if you can!

After graduating from the Univ. of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in business management, I worked in human resources, real estate, and airport management in Grand Junction, Colorado, married, had 2 children, and owned and operated a ranch with my husband. In 1996, I became the Airport Manager at the Grand Junction Airport. In 2005, I moved to Mesa, Arizona to become the Airport Director at Falcon Field Airport, where I am currently employed. My son, Cody, graduated from Arizona State University and lives in Tempe, AZ. My daughter, Cheyenne, graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and now lives in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. My mother-in-law is Ruth Nystrom, who was an Art teacher at Kennedy when we were there. She is retired now and says "Hello" to everyone who knew her.
