Today's Featured Biography
Linda Jump Lammersen
Hello to all my South High Rebels, Classmates of 1965. Where has the time gone??? Reflecting back thinking of our times in high school which helped to shape us into the people we are today, it makes me thankful that we were lucky to grow up during that era.
A quick glance of what I have done since graduation…. After attending the University of Colorado, I then worked as a Continental Airline Flight Attendant for several years, based in Texas, where I met my husband, Barry. During that time, we could not be married and still fly so my career was cut short when I said, “I do” and moved to California. I then worked in the Public Relations office for the Ontario California Airport. When I became pregnant with our first child three years later, we decided to head to Colorado and I devoted my full attention to being a mom. We happily lived in Littleton, CO where our three sons, Bart, Grant, and Keith were born and we were there until we moved to the Washington, DC area in 1978. Barry was appointed the Sales Manager for the newly opened Coldwell Banker Commercial office in the District of Columbia. We lived on the Virginia side of the Potomac River and had relatives in the area, so the boys grew up with cousins and received a wonderful education where so much American history was seen first-hand.
Life was busy with three active, athletic boys and I cannot tell you how many hours I spent on benches between, football, basketball, baseball, and soccer games or washing smelly uniforms! However, it paid off as two of our sons played Division I basketball at Stanford University and The College of William and Mary. Our youngest son was on the intermural team at University of Arizona and won the championship each year in basketball, so they were all talented (took after their Dad who also played college basketball). Now they are all successful commercial real estate brokers following in their dad’s shoes.
During the 1990’s I went back to work and was President/CEO of the Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce and thoroughly enjoyed working with the businesses, local government, and the citizens in our community. We left Virginia for a short time and lived in Arizona as Barry was doing lots of consulting work in the West. We were only there for two years and in 1998 went back to Virginia. In 2006 I finally retired after serving as a Legislative Assistant/ Chief of Staff for three different elected members of the Fairfax, VA County Board of Supervisors. I was fortunate to have very interesting jobs throughout my working life.
In addition to working and raising a family, I have devoted my volunteer efforts to advocate for youth issues in a number of ways. I have served in leadership positions throughout the years on numerous boards and commissions. It was an honor to be recognized by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2001 as Lady Fairfax and in 2003 as the Citizen of the Year by the Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce for my volunteer efforts to the community.
When our sons were out on their own, Barry and I headed west once again in 2006 to be closer to family and settled in Scottsdale, AZ where we live today. We love the laid back lifestyle of the west, except during the summer heat, so that is when we are on the road visiting friends and family.
Barry and I have been married for 45 years and enjoy our eight darling grandchildren (seven girls and one boy) ranging in age from 4 month old twins to 15 years old, who live in California and Arizona. Life has been good to me and I hope that is the same for you.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
