T'Kia Hicks

So much has happened in these last ten years, where do I begin:

After graduation from Banneker, I attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where I majored in Human Development and Psychological Services. In the fall of 1997, I became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, which has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life (so far, of course). I was very active on campus; I was treasurer of the National Pan-Hellenic Counsel, treasurer and scholarship chair of my chapter, Undergraduate Soror of the Year (1999) for the Central Region and was nominated to the Homecoming Court during my senior year. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Education degree in June of 2000.

After graduation, I stayed in the Chicagoland area where I was employed as a College Recruiter with an engineering consulting firm. In July of 2001, I began another step in my career in Human Resources as I began working with Echostar Satellite, LLC. I relocated to the Raleigh/Durham area in January of 2004 where I hold the position of Regional Human Resources Manager. On June 19th, 2005, I graduated with my masters degree in Human Resources Management.

Also in 2004, I met my future life partner, Stephen, but as I usually do, I ignored the feelings. But luckily, someone knocked me upside my head, and on February 12th, 2006, we became engaged. Our wedding is planned for July of 2007, if I can get the planning together. Also on February 12th, I signed the purchase contract for my first house, which I am building, and am schedule to close on July 24th, 2006.
