Today's Featured Biography
Damien Carter
Well, after graduating from Banneker, I struggled through my first year at Ohio University. Not academically, I maintained a decent average despite my partying desires. I just couldn't get with the Bible Belt mentality of most of the people there. Not to mention I was always stressed out about tuition payments. Isn't it ironic that they decided to grant DC students in-state tuition rates after I transferred to UDC? Just a thought.
Well, upon entering UDC, I continued my pursuit of a Bachelor of Social Work degree while participating in UDC's Theater and Dance companies until I graduated in May 2002. Let me tell you, that was the greatest day of my life. After UDC, I attended Howard University to ascertain a Master of Social Work degree. It was an experience I'll never forget, as I was able to make many lifelong friends, kind of like I did at Banneker. I graduated in 2004, in the heat!! Baby I had on a suit, cap and gown, and I was uncomfortable!!!!
Now, I'm just trying to do my thing, here in DC as a social worker at Child and Family Services. I'm currently a member of Momentum Dance Theatre, looking to stretch my acting and dance wings. I am now a member of the DC Divas Dance Team. The DC Divas are an all-female, tackle football team. Please come support the Divas on their road to the Superbowl!!
Other than than, I'm just trying to live life the best way I can.
