Bradley Thomas

Bradley A. Thomas is the founder of the Law Offices of Bradley Ashton Thomas, focusing on civil litigation, estates and probate, and representation of record producers, songwriters and performing artists. He has represented hundreds of clients in both local and federal courts. In 2007, he was elected to the D.C. Bar’s Arts Entertainment Media and Sports Law Section Steering Committee, co-chairing the committee for four years. Also a member of the Maryland and Virginia Bars, he successfully argued the case which established the current state of the law on unauthorized use of computers in Maryland. He is licensed to practice law in every local and federal court in D.C., Maryland and Virginia, including the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He is a member of several voluntary bar associations including the NBA, the WBA and the Maryland State Bar Association and of Sigma Delta Tau Legal Fraternity where he chairs the fraternity’s Voter Mobilization Task Force.

Over the course of his 39 year long legal career, Bradley Thomas has developed a reputation as a respected community activist, advocating on issues ranging from D.C. Statehood to social justice to police misconduct to voting rights. He is an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) in D.C.’s Ward 5 and is currently the Chair of ANC5E. He formerly served as Chair of the Board of North Capitol Main Street (an organization devoted to smart business development in the North Capitol Street corridor), and as the Ward 5 community representative on D.C.’s Child Fatality Review Committee.

In addition to his legal and political endeavors, he is a member and a former President of the Board of Directors of the Central Atlantic Conference of the United Church of Christ (UCC), the board which coordinates the activities of more than 175 UCC churches from New Jersey to Richmond, Virginia. He was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University (1975), Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center (1982) and Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University (2020), where be published a thesis entitled “Dumping on the Disenfranchised: Environmental Justice Implications of Polychlorinated Biphenyl Contamination in Minden, West Virginia.
