Kristi Theurer
Greetings! Kristi Theurer here! I am currently the Media Specialist at Deer Park Elementary. I have been teaching in Pasco County for 23 years, after graduating from Gulf High School, Pasco-Hernando Community College, and the University of South Florida - where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.
My classroom teaching experience was with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Familiarity with the faculty, students, and curriculum at Deer Park Elementary allowed for a smooth transition from the classroom to the media center. As a Media Specialist, I am able to work with a more diverse population of students, specifically younger children, whom I try to assist with finding magic and power penned in written words and books.
In 1993, I was named Pasco County Florida Social Studies Teacher of the Year as a result of my passion for teaching Florida History at the elementary level. In 1995, I was recognized in the University of South Florida Teacher of the Year Program, and in 1997 I was honored to be named Pasco County Teacher of the Year, representing what I consider a very progressive, highly respected school system in the State of Florida.
I am actively involved in several community service organizations. I live with my two boys - a blond cocker spaniel named Rhett and a 250 pound pot belly pig named Scarlett. Did I mention I'm a "Gone With the Wind" fan?!?!?
