Today's Featured Biography
Beth Frederick Muaina
Excited to move off of glorious Moana Street (sorry Kolo) and out of Laie following graduation, I moved to Manoa to attend school at UH. It was here that I finally spread my wings while learning a little bit more about "Beth". I was a dance major (forte: ballet and modern dance) and very dedicated to my training and theatre performances. John continued to be extremely supportive and would make the treck out to UH every weekend so we could continue to spend time together. John left for his mission to Barcelona, Venezuela, in 1999, creating for a most challenging senior year of college for me. I graduated in 2000 with a degree in Dance. A month following graduation, I moved to Philadelphia, PA, to work for a ballet school for the Pennsylvania Ballet. This was the most amazing and rewarding experience, but my roots called me back home to Hawaii after John returned home from his mission. While in Philadelphia, I accepted a job offer from Hawaii Pacific University which allowed me to return back to Hawaii in an effort to be able to support myself. In 2001, I moved back to Hawaii -- but this time to downtown Honolulu. John and I eloped to the San Diego LDS temple (our favorite temple) and were married in 2002. We then spent our honeymoon in Disneyland. Since then, we have made the pilgrimage to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida, every year, to celebrate our wedding anniversary--hence, the reason we dont have children yet; we still think of ourselves as being kids and not yet fully grown up ourselves. I am still working at Hawaii Pacific University as the Director of Student Housing and Residence Life. I love my job; despite all the annoying adolescent annoyances, working with college students is extremely rewarding. John also is busy working full time and attending school full time, yet we continue to find the time to still go out on "dates". John and I continue to live in downtown honolulu.
