Carolyn Tucker Armento

After 35 years of teaching, my love for teaching just grows and grows! I am presently teaching Special Needs Pupils in the Ft. Madison Community School District. We are now known as "Instructional Strategist," which dresses up the title of "Special Education Instructor." Smile!

My only biological daughter, Alicia, is presently a senior at Evangel University in Springfield, MO. She is studying to become a Christian Counselor. Being her Mom has been my most cherished role in life. It's a joy to watch the plan God has for her life unfold! I have been an International Mom for over five years now. Alicia and I hosted a young lady from the Ukraine in our home during Alicia's junior year in high school at Central Lee High School in Donnellson, IA. Irene became forever bonded to our hearts during that period of time and makes yearly visits back to the States. She's graduated from college in Russia in International Marketing. I also have children close to my heart from Kenya, Africa, Zambia and Nigeria. They have given me the privilege of being a Nana to three lovely children. My African gems live in Fairfield, IA close to my mother who lives in Keosauqua.

I am an odained minister and have been very active in outreach ministry for the past 25 years plus. I have founded two outreach ministries over the past two decades and remain very involved in helping those reaching out for assistance to make positive changes in their lives. We are closely networked with Heartland Ministries in Missouri and helping others make fresh and positive changes in their lives is a wonderful part of my life.

My hobbies and structured leisure activities center around music, gardening, scrapbooking, writing and spending time with children in need. One of my most rewarding yearly projects is collecting warm clothing, blankets, hygiene items, boots, socks, gloves, etc. for the homeless in our capital city. This year will be the fourteenth year of doing this mission project. My students get involved and it's a gift to others that will be a forever memory in their lives. Last year my pupils bagged up 175 bags of energy snacks to take to the homeless. It's exciting to see children involved in positive outreach type projects.

I am very active in Relay For Life and March of Dimes activities. We are now preparing for the Relay for Life here in Ft. Madison the end of the month. God's peace upon you all and GODSPEED with your life's journey!
