Today's Featured Biography
Karen Burkett Pederson
After High School, I went to nursing school for two years and then decided that I didn't like being around sick people, so I switched to Central College in Pella. I graduated with a BA in Interdisiplinary Studies (a major saying, I'm not sure what I want to do, so one selects various minors)My areas of concentration were Biology, Sociology, Spanish, and Art. This is beginning to sound like a resume! I got married in 1987 to a fellow from Merida, Mexico. We bought a house in Pella while we were attending college and I had a son in 1992. We lived in Pella, sold the house, lived in Mexico, lived near Iowa City, and finally landed in Ankeny. I was a stay at home mom for six years, and then began my career as a Librarian. Around 1998, I became bored with the tranquil domestic life and decided to try out acting. I found I really enjoyed being the center of attention on stage and the experience of live theatre and being around creative zany party animal types. Life hummed along just fine as I worked, raised my son, and enjoyed my new hobby. Then in 2005, I had my mid life crisis. I had a very amicable divorce and got remarried a fellow actor. My niece passed away in 2005. That just about destroyed me, as I was so close to her and considered her like a daughter. I switched library jobs and became the boss and director of a library, we built a brand new building which was great fun. Having a teenager now, I find myself reflecting back more on my teenage years. Things are pretty settled now, but those old feelings of angst and rebellion flare up from time to time. Can't wait to hear about all of you!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
