Today's Featured Biography
Mary Campbell Heikes
My husband David and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in June of this year. We moved to Kansa City, MO right after we were married and have lived in the city or surrounding areas ever since. We now live in the small town of Smithville about 20 minutes north of Kansas City. The Lord blessed us with 3 daughters and 1 son, who have given us 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 21(twins) to 12, going on 15:) Fortunately they all live close to us, so we're able to get together as often as our busy schedules allow.
Just as in school where I was active in MYF and the church, my faith and church still play an important role in our lives as we attend services regularly, attend Bible study, and I serve as a Nursery Coordinator. Through our church we've gone on several mission's trips to various countries around the world including South America, Central America,Europe, and Asia. Most of these trips have been construction oriented toward building a church or Bible School. Experiencing different cultures, seeing the inadequate living conditions, learning new languages, and seeing how grateful the people are for our help has been a true blessing to us. It makes us appreciate how blessed we are in the United States! These trips plus other trips have taken us to close to 20 foreign countries, and the memories are priceless!!!
Basically I was a stay at home mom and David retired in 1996, so we have had time since then to do what we wanted to do. My interests other than family, church, and travels, include reading (I rarely go anywhere without a book along for company), bird watching, working puzzles, playing volleyball and tennis, gardening and when time allows just taking life easy. I also enjoy staying in touch with friends through email or FB. We're in good health and will "keep on keeping on " as long as possible:)
Since my parents are both still living, I get back to Storm lake at least a couple times each year, and enjoy visiting old familiar places. I can still pick out where various class members used to live or where such and such a store used to be, but the city has certainly changed over the past 50 years. West School is gone as is the Junior High building, and Miss Evans (my 2nd grade teacher at West School) has just died. She lived in Otsego Place and Methodist Manor where my parents are, so I saw her often. She was probably the last of my former teachers that was still alive.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
