I belong to the Norwegian branch of interRAI, sited at the Diakonhjemmet hospital, Oslo, from 2003 became a fellow in InterRAI (www.interrai.org ). And have participated in work groups and counselling.
The research covers central areas within nursing and health care. I started my research work concentrated on problems regarding the matter of the end of life,
a holistic care of the dying and their relatives involves physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of nursing. The ethical challenges were superior. Later on several aspects with the older people became of interest.
Themes for different research projects have been: Care at the end of life, senile dementia, professional
secrecy and quality assurance. I have also participated in and had sole responsibility for various evaluation projects and user polls.
Positions of trust:
Leader of the Norwegian nurses associations’ council of ethics from 1981 to 1987. Was a co author for Norwegian nurses associations´ ethical codec adapted in 1983.
For several terms I have been a member of The Cancer Society, Care Council.
Member of the Secondary School board of Accretes and deputy member of the operational board for Bærum hospital. Fellow in interRAI.
Family: married to Øystein in 1970, psychiatrist. He was an AFS student in Florida 1965/66. We have four grandchildren.
My stay at Eisenhower High School, made it possible for me to learn English and get a global view of the world.
