Greetings from the mountains of Colorado!
Feel free to contact me about this web sight. Louis Moody, Pam’s brother, has agreed to me being an assistant administrator on the site so I can manage 1971 while he manages his class, 1976. I would be happy to post current pictures for people on the site.
I have been privileged to live in many parts of our great country since leaving Downers Grove. I went to school at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, graduating in 1975 with a B.S. in Computer Science. I stayed in Des Moines for four years working for an insurance company.
In 1979 I moved to Dayton, Ohio, and spent a year and a half working for NCR, Inc. During that year I married Sharron Anderson of Waterbury, Connecticut. We had met at a class that the Smithsonian Institution held in Washington D.C. in 1978.
In the summer of 1980 we moved to Amarillo, Texas, where I worked for Mesa Petroleum. I stayed with Mesa until 1992. That was an exciting period because Mesa was run by T. Boone Pickens, one of the takeover specialists in the stock market during the 1980’s. In 1982 my son, Nathaniel, was born and in 1986 we adopted a little girl, Rachel, from Korea. Amarillo was a great place to live and raise a family.
In 1992 we moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota, when I went to work for Consultec. Consultec specializes in designing and installing computer systems to process claims for the Medicaid systems run by each of the states.
In 1996 we landed the contract to design and install a new system for Colorado. I was fortunate enough to be selected to be on the management team for the new account. After four years we had installed the new system and taken over the operation of that system for the State. It was time to move on. I volunteered to work on a contract that we just landed assisting another company in moving and modifying the system we had just installed in Colorado to New York. Because we were only consulting, I was able to continue living in Colorado but commuted on a bi-weekly basis (two weeks in NY and one weekend at home) to Albany, New York. I spent three years shuffling between Denver and Albany. On the plus side, we got two free trips to Hawaii out of my frequent flyer miles and frequent stayer points at Hilton hotels.
In 2003 I was able to start working from my home in the mountains above Denver and perform tasks required by our home office. In 2005 we bid on and landed the contract for a new system in New Hampshire. So I am currently enjoying working from my home, managing a staff in our division’s home office in Atlanta, Georgia, while making periodic trips to visit the customer in Concord, New Hampshire.
I now work for Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) Incorporated. ACS bought Consultec in 1999.
I finally managed to attend my first class reunion when we had our thirtieth reunion in 2001. It was fun to see some old friends and tour the old school again. I still get back to Downers Grove every once in a while because my parents and two brothers still live in the area.
