Today's Featured Biography
Lori Sullivan Ricklefs
"Life is good" something I can say with sincerity. I hope that my fellow Eisenhower classmates can say life has been good for them too these last forty-five years. After graduation, I attended Central Michigan University, but life decided to take my journey a different route. I would like to claim that my journey change from college partially had to do with attending a high school that lacked concrete boundaries(the walls we all remember). I know I am not the only one guilty of spending time being more focused on the fun "classroom" next door. Regardless of our unconventional classrooms, I am glad to have followed the path planned for me. I was then onto a career at General Motors that not only provided security but also blessed me with many friendships. During this time, my passion for teaching became more evident to myself and other which is how I became the Health & Safety trainer for the last fourteen years before I retired after thirty-eight amazing years. While establishing my career, I was also building a family too. Our children are grown now, but my husband and I will always be proud of their accomplishments no matter how old they are. My computer savvy genius of a son has worked hard to establish his career in the IT field at Hemlock Semi-Conductor. My daughter went into nursing and has her BSN. She also gave me my other pride and joys; my grandsons and I am expecting my third grandbaby in September. And I cant forget the son I gained when she got married. Between his dumpster and excavating business, plus farming and raising their kids, they stay busy. Since I became the worlds best Nana (ask my grandsons), my husband and I love to spend time with our "g-boys" 8 and 9 years old and both take our role of Nana and Papa seriously, which includes lots of sleepovers, spoiling the heck out of them and lots of snacks. They keep us busy and we love every crazy minute of it. I have also kept busy in the Saginaw community as they Varsity Cheer Coach for the sideline and also started the MHSAA Competitive Cheer Teams at Heritage High School. I was able to watch the program grow from a "club" into a respected sport-yes cheerleading is a sport and I will gladly defend this statement. After seven plus years, I decided to retire but only to realize how much I loved working with youth sports. Thus, leading me to take a job as the Head Cheer Coach at Valley Lutheran High School and as one of the schools Emergency Medical Responders for their spring sports teams. Now that retirement has opened some time for me, my husband and I decided to add a Schnauzer puppy to our family named Harley. We have not decided if the grandkids or the puppy keeps us busier. Despite having some health issues, I still love making time for my girlfriends whether it be girls night out or trips up north for a weekend. Again, I hope "life is good" for all my fellow classmates...and may we always remember the ones that we have lost....A special thank you to Linda Lewis Gage, Joyce Sheredy Bierlein and everyone else who has done such an amazing job on our class reunions. Go Commanders!!
