Today's Featured Biography
Evelyn (Evie) Naidyhorski Pedersen
So old classmates, what have you all been doing for the past 50 years. Aw it's been easy right? Hell No.
Maybe some of you had great lives, mine wasn't too easy.
Graduated Johnson, Went to St. Cloud State, dropped out after 1st quater. And now life starts. Got married at 19, to a So.St.Paul guy. He was in the Marines. He came home, we got married and had 2 children, and of course no money.
We both worked all those years when we were young. Had two daughters, and in 8 1/2 years got divorced. So there I was alone with two small daughters. I managed to get a job that paid decent salary, so we could survive, but I had to work 3-11 almost all of those years. It was a bitch to find babysitters. My poor girls had lots and lots of them. They had one for awhile, and she cleaned out a closet so they could sleep in there till I got home from work. Sometimes it was 2 or 3 in the morning if a bunch of us went out after work. But no one likes being woken up on below zero day, and put a kids snow suit on go go home and sleep for a few more hours till it was time to get up for school again.
Didn't have regular weekends off, so even then I didn't get to see the girls for a whole day at a time. We did go and do things when possible. Camping, friends with boats, etc.
They finally graduated from school, and one daughter would never let her children be with a babysitter unless it was a relative. The other daughter had two kids, but she managed to put herself through college, and is still married. Doing well.
Both the girls are very nice. But boy have thing changed from my time till now. Got injured at work and retired at age 50 yrs. whoopie. Only no one else was around to do things with. I did do some volunteer stuff at my kids schools.
Had a few dates now and then, but only one that I thought I loved, and he died, at 57. The girls father died at 48 of lung cancer. We are all on out own now, Or maybe I should say I'm all on my own now, no kids around. Although my grandkids are pretty grown up they do come and visit me. There were 4 boys and 1 girl grandkids.
M y body has a way of falling apart a little more each year.
Bones are rotten, had lots of surgeries. I'm still walking and talking, but am due for a dangerous back surgery this summer. My life has it's Ups and Downs, but all in all it has been a good life. I'm happy, and have friends, do things that I want to do most of the time. I was quiet in Hi School, didn't have many friends. For some reason I have been give a sense of humor, so I can get laughs, which I love to do. Hope you all wake up and do something because we are all getting older. Need to take care of ourselves, and enjoy the time we have left.
COME ON AND JOIN IN. LETS SEE WHAT WE ARE ALL DOING KNOW, IF WE ARE STILL ALIVE.
