Well, 20 years is a long time. Funny, I never thought I would be old! It’s really not that great either, ya know? So here are a few boring details. I went to Penn Valley Community College and earned an Associate's degree in nursing. I waited tables at Houlihan's on the plaza during that time and met my husband, Cory (he graduated from Shawnee Mission East and their reunion is the weekend after ours). I went to work as an intensive care nurse at KU Med, wiped a lot of butt, earned a bachelor's degree, and got married in 1995. Cory was an umpire in minor league baseball for 11 years so I became a traveling nurse for 7 years, if you can't beat 'em join 'em kind of thing.. Lived in a lot of different cities (Denver, New Orleans, Baltimore, Virginia Beach, Minneapolis, to name a few) and loved it, all the while wiping butts all along the way.
In 2002, Cor got a new career and we moved to the Great White North- Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Believe you me, I never thought that I'd be saying that, but have to admit Milwaukee is a nice town with a lot of good attributes (except the name). So in the cold you just wear the right gear, meaning I own lots of coats and boots now.
Then, Monster.com lead to my first non-nursing nursing job at Abbott Laboratories. I answer questions about Abbott drugs for doctors, pharmacists, and patients, among a slew of other things. Who knew you could call a drug manufacturer and ask questions!! You can and you should.
I look forward to the Fox and the Hound in July and can't believe we are all are so old!
