Though I welcome all Christmas cards and other correspondence (except bills), I have no fondness for the generic Christmas letter which takes the reader through the life of the writer's family, one success at a time. I would avoid this.
I spend a lot of time wondering what I am supposed to do and hoping that God or someone will tell me.
I spend a lot of time wanting to want to help struggling people and not getting very far.
At times I think I am a generally decent, God-fearing, hard-working citizen. Almost as frequently, I think I am a fearful, selfish, anxious, cowardly insect.
I waste a lot of effort trying to fit into a mold, and then, if I succeed in fitting, find it all very boring.
In short, I know little about the world and less about my self.
I think laughing is good as is actually talking with someone, not just making conversation. Eye contact is difficult but rewarding.
I am certain that the size of one's house, car, boat, ego, bank account has nothing to do with happiness and probably is antithetical; but most of my time is spent making money.
All is vanity.
At one time I was certain in matters of theology and politics. Now, though I still identify myself as Christian and conservative, I think I know very little about God, and if the Democrats win in '08, I am both consoled and chagrined that nothing much will change.
