Kandis Walker Tonsager

After graduation in 2003, I attended Chadron State College. Great Place.There I met my husband, Wayne. We got married June 4th, 2005 in Holdrege. We had our first son, Andy, in January of 2005 and our second son, Zachary, in October of 2006. (The day after Wayne's 25th birthday.)The boys are 20 months apart.
In the fall of '05 we transfered to Black Hills State University (BHSU). Wayne is a Secondary Math Education major (& coaching & mortuary) and CSC's program went to hybred & online only which he didn't like, so we moved. It was a great choice.
I love BHSU. It is in Spearfish, SD. 15 minutes from Sturgis, 10 from Deadwood and 35 from Rapid City. We have ski slopes, 4 wheeling & snow mobiling in the canyons, great fishing, great hunting and beautiful scenery.
Upon transfering to BH, I added 2 majors, so I am now a TRIPLE MAJOR!!!!! They are Elementary Education, Early Childhood/ Special Education and Special Education k-12th grade. I am the President of Black Hills Association for the Education of the Young Child, a local chapter of the National Association for the Education of the Young Child (NAEYC), The Vice President for American Association for Individuals with Disabilities (AAID), and a member of Reading Council.
We attend the Solid Rock Church where we participate in a weekly playgroup. It is a very nice non-denominational church with a band and a contemorary setting.
What else, we plan to graduate in December of 2008. After that, we plan to work on our Master's then find teaching jobs in Wyoming. ($$$$$)
It is nearly a 9 hour trip to make it home from here, exspecially with 2 little boys. It used to take 7 1/2 - 8 hours before Zach came along. He has the world record in screaming abilities over the fartherest distance, I swear! So I am in Holdrege few and far between but love to see the everyone when I do make it back!
