Margaret Shannon

I was graduated from LHS in 1961 and from Transylvania College in Lexington, KY in 1965. Served as White House Intern under Kennedy and Johnson, worked on Capitol Hill for many years and was Staff Director of the Democratic Policy Council at the Democratic National Committee at the time of the Watergate break-in. After time as Director of Legislative Analysis for the Appalachian Regional Commission, I founded Washington Historical Research Associates, a firm specializing in historical research for authors, journalists, courts, films, and TV documentaries. In addition, I maintain an active career in music at Washington National Cathedral, where I am curator of its Rare Book Library, Cathedral Historian, and Program Annotator for the Cathedral Choral Society in which I also have sung since 1973.
I live in historic Fairlington Village, built during World War II,about 1.5 miles from the Pentagon, where I was on the highway on September 11, 2001. YOu may have seen the National Prayer Service at the Cathedral; I played a major role in that service put together in less than 48 hours. I'd love to hear from old classmates in Lincoln. My sister, Dr. Phyllis Shannon Salyards, practices medicine in Hastings, NE, and my niece Shannon Salyards, will earn her MA in Voice from Boston University this May. She gave her debut recital here in Washington last December. She has a great career ahead of her.
