Today's Featured Biography
Marta Pepe Forney
Hey everyone!
My husband, daughter and I live in Doylestown, PA. For those of your who cringed at the thought of PA, I don't live up in Brokeback Mountain or something. I live in a suburban area and we actually have stores and people with teeth. Anyone familiar with shopping at Peddler's Village?? That's the next town over from me.
After high school, I attended Penn State in the awesome college town of State College,PA. It took a little time to adjust...graduating from a class of 170 to a university of 40,000. But, eventually I really got into the whole Penn State thing and tried out for and made the track team. I started as a heptathlete but then switched over to pole vaulting when the Big Ten brought it into the women's conference. We had no female pole vaulters so we just sort of winged it. I also became a Lion Ambassador. It's a great organization that is involved with welcoming new students and maintaining spirit on campus.
Most importantly, while at Penn State, I met Travis. We had met during our junior year as I had taken a liking to his roommate. Though no sparks flew with his roommate, we remained friends and I eventually ended up with Travis. We continued to date after graduating from Penn State while I was obtaining my masters in physical therapy from the University of Delaware and Travis began teaching in Doylestown, where we would eventually live. In 2001 we were engaged on the island of Oahu and were married at Penn State in August of 2002. In 2005 we had our daughter, Elliot. She's full of spirit and energy, which is a polite way of saying she's a spitfire who is too smart for her own good.
Currently, I'm a physical therapist and Travis a teacher. I work in multiple settings, but mostly in the geriatric field. Travis teaches 8th grade history and coaches wrestling. We still go to many Penn State football games. My daughter's been to 16 games and she 's only 2!!
My parents moved down here, hence why many of you Hopatcong-ites may not have seen me around town much at all.
