Hello Class of '63! I can remember many years ago when my mother-in-law, Helen Mapes, was about to attend her 50th high school reunion. I was probably 30 or so at the time and I remember thinking how old she must have been. And now, here we are just 5 years away! I guess it's all perspective. I think many of you know my most recent news...after 20 yrs. of being single I married the kindest, most thoughtful man ever. Steve and I met at church and after being friends for about 4 yrs. things came together for us. We became engaged 12 days after our first date. At our age there was no reason to wait! Life is very good for us. We laugh a lot and are enjoying volunteering at church and other activities.
My boys are doing well. My oldest, Michael, lives in the Ft. Worth suburb of Haslet. He is an official with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He and his wife, Missy, have 8 yr. old twins named McKinlee and Mason. My son, Mark and his wife Demetria live in Lovington where he is a principal of an alternative high school. They have 2 daughters, Hunter and Rylee. My youngest, Matthew and his wife Kristie have a little boy 3 yrs. old named Reiter. You all remember that was my maiden name. My mother, Faye Reiter, died the day before Matt and Kristie got married, so they named their son Reiter as a tribute to her. As I write this they are living in Lubbock, but when you read this he will be living in Dallas and attending Parker College of Chiropractic . As soon as their house sells Kristie and Reiter will join him.
I am so proud to have graduated from Artesia High School abnd look forward to our time together. God bless, Lonna Kay (Reiter) Smith
