I have been married to W.O.King Jr (aka Woe) for 45 years. We married after our graduation from McMurry University in the fall of 1967. Woe went off to Officer Candidate School with the Navy and I moved to Midland and started my first job teaching school. In October of that year, Woe finished his training and we were married. His first duty station was Pensacola, Florida. Our 30 years of travel began there. Woe was a naval aviator and has flown several types of impressive jet aircraft.
Our first daughter Lori was born in Meridian, Mississippi on Halloween of 1968. Our second daughter, Beckie was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1972. We have crossed the United States several times, and lived in the Phillipines.
Our daughters are both successful in each of their careers. Lori is a nurse and Beckie is a killer whale trainer at Sea World San Diego. She is a cute little blonde so if you see her, give her a wave and if you have an opportunity to visit with the trainers tell her who you are. We have three grandchildren from Lori, and two by marriage from Beckie and she gave us a beautiful little guy in April 2008 and a daughter in August 2010. So we have a total of 8 grandchildren counting 1 great grandchild. Throughout our travels through the US I have taught school when a job was available for a traveling Navy wife. I managed to get enough credits from two schools and earned my masters degree in Special Education. I taught special education for twenty five years and enjoyed day. . I worked at my last school for the 16 years and retired in May of 2010.
One of the best memories in a while was the Branson 60th Birthday Party with many of you. Barbara Jo came up with this brilliant idea, and she and I worked it, but due to medical issues in her family she was unable to come, but she was definetly there in spirit. Those of you who could not come missed out on a great four days. We should do this again folks. We did A Branson trip again in 2011, and had a great group.
Staying in contact with friends from Artesia is always a delight to me. Visit me online and on facebook.
Retired from education in May of 2010. Mary
