I left Midwest City after my sophomore year, eventually graduating from Ludwigsburg Americal High School in Germany. I entered the Coast Guard on a reserve program shortly after graduation. My first job after I separated from active duty was as a hospital orderly. I subsequently became a RN, and eventually a MD, graduating from The Medical College of Virginia in 1977. I completed residency programs in family medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Bay Shore, New York.
I have two children and two step children, and reside in Addison, Texas, a North Dallas suburb.
