Today's Featured Biography
James George
After graduation, I went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and graduated with a B.A. in German. While an undergraduate, I signed up for Army ROTC. I went to Fort Bragg, N.C., received my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, and then served in the PA Army National Guard as an Armored Cavalry Platoon Leader. This was in tanks, and not on horses...horse are OK, I suppose, but blowing up things was much more entertaining. After my branch qualification in Fort Knox, KY, I returned to assume the Executive Officer position with B Troop, 104th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Later, I commanded the local Armor company of the 103rd Armor Battalion, headquartered up in the National Guard armory on Radio Hill.
I enlisted with the Pennsylvania State Police in 1988, and graduated six months later as a State Trooper. I served pretty much all over the Commonwealth of PA at various times. I also had an assignment for two years as a survival tactics instructor at the State Police Academy in Hershey.
In 1999, I made a career switch--and a big one at that--into Information Technology (IT). I now work as a network engineer for the federal government (U.S. Dept. of Commerce) in Washington, D.C. and have lived in the D.C. metropolitan area these past seven years. I am now in the process of buying a house in Southern Maryland in the vicinity of the Chesapeake Bay.
