I graduated from Registered Nursing School in 1959. Met my husband the same summer I graduated. We married-lived in Pasadena for about 4 years then moved to Spring Branch area of Houston. Lived in Spring Branch for 35 years until my husband retired from Anheuser Busch Brewery. Our children all graduated from Northbrook High School. They all live on the West side of Houston in the Cypress Fairbanks School District. we moved to schulenburg on proproperty we had purchased in the early 80's. He began raising Emu. After he sold out of the emu business he raised a south african boar goat and sheep. We have had over 400 sheep until the summer of 2008. We have semi retired from the animal business now. My husband is busy on his new hobby - making his own biodiesel. It Works and sure saves money.
I did not join him in Schulenburg until I could retire in 1998. We need binoculars to see our closest neighbors. A traffic jam for us is 6 cars. I am continue to consult and audit Ambulatory surgery Centers. This gives me my city "fix" as I am very much a city girl.
We have 8 grandchildren plus 2 from second marriage and one deceased grandchild. The family loves to visit us expecially the boys who all have 4 wheelers and bikes. All began their water ski interest by skiing on land behind our Kawasaki Mule.
Life is incredibly busy in the country and I wondered what in the world would I do out here.
My career as a nurse continued all through my married life. I worked in the operating room for many years. In 1983 I left the hospital OR work area and joined the ambulatory surgery center business. I remained there until 1995 then began consulting for Kimberly Clark's healthcare division and for myself in the ambulatory surgery licensing arena. I continue to work some with the ASC business and will as long as I can. I have loved my career.
I attended 2 high school reunions - one in Galveston and the last one in Clear Lake. It was truely fun to see so many classmates. I never thought I would have as much fun as I did. I look forward to the opportunity to see other classmates again.
