Today's Featured Biography

Cathy Berkimer

I debated on whether I had anything noteworthy or extraordinary to put in a bio because why else would you want to do one. Iím sure many of you have thought the same thing based on lack of bioís and number of hits to this website. I decided itís just as extraordinary to make it through the everyday ordinary days and years as most of us have. I think we all have impact to others whether itís the rest of the world, our work, our family, or our friends and neighbors. High school may have only been a few years out of our long lives, but I think they were significant years in shaping our lives and what weíve all become today. While the people around me may think Iím funny and slightly outgoing, every once in a while Iím still that shy and kind of nerdy girl.

So now to life after high school - After a few years of college at OC following high school graduation, I decided to go out into the working world first in the insurance industry (life/car and title), and then started what has become a career in Federal government in Seattle. I started with the VA for couple of months, switched to IRS for almost 7 years, and ended up back on this side of the water with the Navy for the last 20 years. Except for a few detours, most of my work has been spent in Human Resources something that Iím good at and enjoy. Beyond the paycheck, itís afforded me with the ability to travel (mostly to East coast but they also sent me to Europe), as well as to be able to stay where I love Ė the many trips make me glad to come back to the NW. I now have my ďvirtualĒ job as a recruitment program manager working for our headquarters office in D.C. but here in NW. I now potentially get to impact all Navy employees and applicants. Except for my father who passed away years ago, my immediate family is still in the area. I enjoy spending time with them, especially with my niece and 2 nephews (brotherís kids). Not having had any children of my own, I make a great ďAuntie MameĒ to them Ė the oldest has even told his friends that Iím his ďcoolĒ Aunt. Thatís probably due to my age denial Ė I accept that Iím aging only Iíve slowed it down with my 10-year birthday plan. I also enjoy usual hobbies in off time including recent one of scrapbooking which a friend got me involved in. I donít know about retirement yet, Iím just enjoying life now not looking too far down the road of life. I pray the same for you too Ė God bless.

"I have to tell you that I LOVE your site! I have used it to plan several reunions now and I so appreciate your efforts and support. Thanks so much!" 7/9/2014

"This is the supreme class reunion program out there. Those other sites charge you for almost everything you use or research. My advice to all the classes out there - give yourself a break including your wallet, and do the organization yourself with the fine help of this awesome program. Classreport is the Epic Smart way to manage your class activities and reunions. We consider this program as a legacy to our classes." 5/22/2014
