ALFY'S PIZZA 4820 - 196th St SW, Lynnwood WA |
PIZZA PARTY ! ! Cost? You're on your own! |
JOIN US FOR an unhosted gathering, where we all take advantage of Alfy's fine counter service for food and beverages. It'll be an early evening, roughly 7-10 pm (exact start time to be announced later). Spend time reconnecting with old friends in a space of our own, in a relaxed atmosphere, with nothing to distract us from each other's great company, except, of course, everybody else enjoying each other's great company!
RON FOSTER has reserved both the upper and lower banquet rooms for our party, which kicks off our THS'68+40 Reunion Weekend. To see available menu choices, visit Alfy's website online (copy & paste to your browser window): http://www.alfyspizza.com/menu.htm. While they don't list beverages on the online menu, Alfy's management tells us they offer refillable soft drinks at 99 cents, and beer and wine are also available.
No program is planned, and no reservations are necessary, BUT: Just so the folks at Alfy's are ready with appropriate staffing and food, please mark the Reservation form in the area for this event that best describes your plans. |

LEGION MEMORIAL GOLF COURSE 144 W Marine View Dr • Everett, WA 98201 |
$42/player total • $20 deposit by7/10/08 $22 remainder day of tournament |
To be held in the morning the day of the Reunion Banquet Dinner. Terms are more flexible than originally planned. To form a tournament we need at least 24 entrants, but if that fails, Legion Memorial is holding 6 tee times which will need to be filled or released by a deadline date. There's still time to get in on the fun!
We need a $20 DEPOSIT from each player by JULY 10th and will form a tournament if our number reaches 24. Contact PHIL KING by eMail for details on signing up and where to send your deposit, by clicking on his name below, or see ReunionNews Vol.5 or 6 for a phone number. (ReunionNews5 should have arrived at individual eMail Inboxes on Thursday, May 14, and at US-mailboxes a couple days later. Vol.6 should be published shortly after June 10.) |

BOWLING! (9-Pin No Tap?) Reply Due by 6/10/08, Payment Due by 7/05/08 |
|
Saturday,
August
9,
2008 - 9:30 am
|
Lynnwood Bowl & Skate 6210 200th St. SW, Lynnwood WA |
$10-$20/player, depending on numbers |
While the golfers hit the fairway, we non-golfers want another alternative! Lynnwood Lanes has offered the use of their facility for a flat fee for up to 75 participants. The cost of $10-$20 per player will include:
•2 hours of bowling, with automatic scoring
•Shoe rental and use of house ball
•Lite breakfast (coffee, OJ, muffins, bagels/cream cheese, croissants/jam)
We're considering a Nine-Pin No-Tap format (knocking down 9 on the first ball is scored as a strike!) to make it more fun for the less experienced or more challenged participants, but we're open to discussion on that point. We may have prizes, but if not, our resourceful C/Ms will find ways to make it interesting, and we'll have some fun awards at the Banquet Dinner. Share your thoughts!
Price per person depends on number participating. For 70 or more, cost will be around $10/player. If fewer than 35 sign up (cost of $20/player), the event will be cancelled. To attend you must register as a player, whether you bowl or not. Event is open to members of any THS class from 1966 through 1970 and their adult guests.
To sign up, mark the box on the Reservation/s form, and Laurie will be in touch with you regarding registration and payment. |

GUIDED TOUR of the All-New Mountlake Terrace High School |
|
Saturday,
August
9,
2008 - 2:00 pm
|
Mountlake Terrace High School 21801 44th Ave W • Mountlake Terrace WA |
No cost but requires registration |
THS'68 Classmate HERB HUDSON has arranged for a GUIDED TOUR of the all-new school that now occupies the grounds where once we walked the Hallowed Halls of Terrace.
Food for thought: The "new" building is now older than ours was when we attended classes! And with only a couple minor exceptions, the name and the real estate are the only features the new school shares with ours. No wonder the Alma Mater has changed, since nothing even vaguely resembling a reflection pool now catches the glint of moonlight, as our anthem so wistfully recounts.
Serving as tour guides will be volunteer staff of today's MTHS. The gesture is offered to welcome our graduating class to its long-awaited reunion celebration. If participation justifies it, we'll gather for a group photo and/or host a cookies, punch, and coffee/tea reception afterward.
The tour is planned for Saturday, August 9, and is expected to start at 2 or 2:30 pm,. but we're hoping it won't interfere with bowling and golf or with being ready for the dinner, so times may be adjusted. After you sign up, we'll keep you informed. Attendance will be free of charge, but we need to plan for volunteer guides (and maybe punch and cookies), so we're asking for SIGN-UPS. We may very well be able to accommodate late responses.
Mark the box on the Reservation/s Form that best fits with your interest, and we'll be in touch with you with specifics. |

Today's Featured Biography
Leonard LAMBERT
It’s been great reading the bios many of you have submitted for your profiles. Some are brief while others are more like short stories but regardless of length, they are all fantastic. They have shamed me into writing my own bio.
As I start to compose this document, I find that if I compare my work with others, I could end up on the short end. I obviously do not have the writing skills of Gary Larson who writes professionally. Diane Schwald has some fantastic advice about keeping only positive people in our lives. Ron Foos has met a ton of famous musicians. Rodger Tennison tells us he enjoys having fun. Compared to this, my message will be pretty dull but here it is.
I’ve been married to three wonderful women. The first being the mother of my two, biological children and the last giving me two wonderful step-kids. What is strange is that both women who have brought children into my life are named Christine. I wonder if Christines are historically associated with bringing children? The middle wife was a departure from the Christines by being named Rhonda and Rhonda did not bring any kids into my life. Three of my kids have given me a total of nine grandchildren with another in the oven. My oldest grandchild has just received his learner’s permit and is very excited about it.
I am the chief financial officer for the United Way of Anchorage. I’ve been the nonprofit arena for the past 14 years after a number of years in private industry and state government. Working with nonprofits gives me the illusion of fulfilling some of my social responsibility and just makes me feel good. Living in Alaska is a bonus that I cherish.
This is for Joel Aycock. For five years, I had the pleasure of being the Finance Director at Sheldon Jackson College where I worked with an Academic Dean named David Harrington. I understand David is an old classmate of yours and he asked me to send his greeting.
This is getting pretty long so I better finish. The last bio I want to mention is from Sue Coons who admitted that her high school years were not the most memorable. I thought a lot about Sue’s bio and realized it struck very true for me. I think it’s because high school became the base from which I was able to grow and mature. With the additional maturity that comes with the years, I’ve come to accept and appreciate who I am. This has led to greater appreciation of what I have and of those around me. In retrospect, I have to say that high school was my lowest point only because it is where I started. Since then, my life has been a 40 year experience of continuous improvement. I hope it has been the same for all my classmates.
