Today's Featured Biography
Brenda Smith
Um. Yeah. So.....Twenty years....That kind of throws a wrench into my whole "I'm celebrating my 26th birthday" this year line. Well. I'll just need to make up another lie to cover up that one.
Um...so story, story. No story. Floated around. Tried on different schools, returned and exchanged them. Finally found one I could tolerate long enough to graduate from and I've been on the East Coast since then - 1994. In DC pretty much since 1996, so I guess its home now. Its pretty weird living in a city where no one has ever had a tumbleweed stuck under their car nor gone to Desert Deli for some jo-jo's. Actually, what's really weird is that I don't have a car anymore and when I rent one I find myself going 45mph on the freeway (sorry about that Texans). And I live in a club/bar neighborhood in DC. So its noisy. All night. I can't sleep if its quiet. Course my neighborhood is so noisy I can't sleep at home either. So I pretty much haven't slept in a decade. Hmmm....that actually explains alot...
I'm a fundraiser. I didn't even know what a fundraiser was twenty years ago. Actually I'm not sure I do now either, but somehow I keep getting a paycheck. I've been working for Georgetown University since 2004. I'm pretty much doing it for the free basketball tickets and ugly boxy golf shirts they insist on "gifting" to me. Some day, when I'm old and pathetic, I'll be able to tell people about "that day that Coach Thompson came into my office and said to me....." Actually, that might be me now...
What else do I do. Um....I'm on the road alot, so I spend alot of time talking to people I don't know and don't want to know and maybe don't like. But I'm happy to take their money. Its God's work. :) And then there's the packing and unpacking (VERY EXCITING) and laundry....lots of laundry - because it turns out I like to run alot and for a long time at a stretch. SO essentially I stink all the time. Especially in the summer - because that new fabulous wicking fabric. Yeah....wicks away sweat, but holds on to stench. FOREVER. Double wash? Nope. try triple and I don't have enough quarters to do a double wash, let alone a triple. Single wash with smell. SWWS. That's how I roll. :) Anyway...
