Today's Featured Biography
Juvenal JOVET
Graduated from Canal Zone College, 1970. Left Panama to serve a two-year, full-time mission for my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) in Uruguay and Paraguay, S. America. Graduated from Brigham Young Univ., Provo, Utah (B.S., 1974). Graduated from City Univ. in Seattle with an M.B.A. in 1991 while working for Boeing.
Worked for Pan Am (Pan American Airways) based in Seattle, Wash. and Alaska. Married my wife, Cindy, in the Oakland, Calif. L.D.S. temple, 1978. Honeymooned in Paris and London. This year, we will celebrate our 40th. wedding anniversary (the honeymoon did it!).
Served as a diplomat with the U.S. State Dept. in S. America and the Middle East. Our third daughter, Sylvie, was born in S. America, our son, Juvenal, came along while we were in the Middle East. Altogether, spent fifteen years overseas, six in Central and South America, six years across Asia, from the Middle East region to the Indian sub-continental area to Southeast Asia and 3 1/2 yrs. in Europe.
My wife, Cindy, and I are licensed pilots, certified scuba divers, licensed amateur radio operators and certified firearms instructors. We've held a variety of licenses for these activities from governments on four continents. I was the first American licensed to fly in Slovakia, Central Europe, after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Flew in Australia. My wife and I were licensed to fly in Ecuador and did so extensively while we lived there.
Our married children have bombarded us with eleven grandchildren thus far, the eldest being only twelve years old. Ten grandsons, one granddaughter. Equal value...!
Some of the other cities in the U.S. that I've worked in over the years include Dearborn, Mich., Salt Lake City, Utah and Wash., D.C. Transferred here to Houston two years ago. Visited all fifty states plus some of the U.S. overseas territories. Obtained my pilot's license at the start of my senior-yr. of high school in Los Angeles, CA., just three days before we left the U.S. for Panama. As a result, I was able to obtain my Panamanian pilot's license and fly extensively around Panama, from Bocas del Toro near the Costa Rican border to Jaque, near the Colombian border and from the San Blas Is. in the north to the Perlas Is. on the south. On various trips to Panama over the years, I've been able to take my wife to some of the places I used to fly to, including to go scuba diving. In short, having far more fun than a Puerto Rican should be allowed to have!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
