Today's Featured Biography
Patricia "Pat" Ford Atchley
After graduation from SHS in 1962, I attended Western Kentucky University and graduated from there in 1966. Received a BA degree and was hired by the Jefferson County School System to teach Spanish at Thomas Jefferson High School. In April 1967 Roger Atchley and I were married, and we celebrated our 45th anniversary this year. I retired from teaching when our first child was born in 1969. Roger was in bank marketing in Louisville, and we moved from Kentucky in 1977 to Denver, Colorado for a job advancement. We spent 3 great years there learning to love the mountains and all the wonderful outdoor activities like skiing and hiking. I went to the University of Colorado Denver for a year, thinking I would maybe go back to teaching. Then we moved to the suburbs of Chicago for another 3 years and another advancement. There were new adventures and more friends to be found. The next move was to Boise, Idaho for 4 years and a VP job. The girls' activities kept me busy all this time, especially the latter years. I attended Boise State University for another year taking some business courses; then, Roger took a job in Florida in late 1986 leaving the girls and I to finish the school year in Boise. We moved to Florida after Tami's graduation from Boise High.
We have been living in Florida for 25 plus years and are hoping to leave as soon as the home sells pick up a little. Roger left the banking business and founded his own consulting company. I started teaching swimming lessons and was assistant coach for Masters Swimming at the then Mission Bay Aquatic Olympic Training Center where Greg Louganis was training. This lasted for 7 years. Feeling that I needed to get out of the Florida sun I took a job at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. I am a certified tumor registrar in the cancer center, and abstract cases of people that are at our hospital with cancer or for their first course of treatment. All of these histories have to be reported to the state and then to the National Cancer Data Base to make up our statistics for treatment and research.
We were blessed to have two great daughters. Tami is an assistant professor of neurological physical therapy and assistant director of clinical education at Emory University in Atlanta. She is married to a middle school teacher and has a son Nathan (11) and daughter Sarah (7). And our youngest, Jennifer is a flight nurse in Tucson, Arizona. She was in the ER for 10 years before that. She lives northwest of Tucson with 3 dogs and 2 horses.
I get back to Kentucky about once a year and hope to get to one of the lunch meetings. God has been very good to our family.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
