30 Year Reunion Announcement!
30th Reunion for our class
written via Face Boook by Kara(Walker)Cox
Good evening Fellow Falcons....I am going to propose we hold the reunion the 2nd weekend of June 2015 (based on feedback). It gives us a date to work towards which will be here before you know it.
Picnic scoop ----reserving space
We can't reserve space at Hill Park (if that seems like the best location for everyone) until Feb of 2105. Rental is $50 for residents of Indep and $70 for nonresident. The application has to be filled out in person at their offices. Prices are the same for the other parks in the Indep. area.
Put those thinking caps on for possible evening event locations and let me know your thoughts. specific casinos, hotels, or meeting spaces we want people to help research. We "might" run into some issues reserving some places in June (weddings) just never know?
Also ---- does anyone have suggestions of other locations to post reunion plans so we get the word out?
After I graduated, I goofed around KC for a couple of years. Met my future wife, Kara Turner (Shawnee Mission North '86) in 1988 and I moved to Emporia Kansas to go to school...she was already in school there. We married in 1992. While living in Emporia, I enrolled in a summer class at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, Ks. and started working at JCCC part time. They offered me a full time job, and would pay my tuition for the remaining classes I needed for my Environmental Biology degree. So, my wife and I moved to Olathe and I worked for JCCC while earning my degree. After I graduated, I stayed on with JCCC while I was looking for my "career" biology job. I eventually took a job running the shipping/receiving for the JCCC Warehouse. I've been with JCCC 10 years in '04, what started as a part-time summer job turned into a career...go figure!
My wife has her Masters degree in Sociology and works for Crittenton Behavioral Hospital as a social worker and therapist for troubled kids/adolescents.
We have two darling daughters in grade school ...plus soccer, scouts, choir, church, etc. so it seems like we are always on the go.
We bought our first house on the edge of town in Lee's Summit in 2000, and love it there.
As for me, you could say I've "filled out" a little since high school...I'm 6'8", 300 lbs. Hobbies are hunting, fishing, any thing outdoors, NASCAR, and hanging out with my girls!
