Diane Franks Ochala

Hi! It is good to be able to catch up with everyone again. This website does bring back old memories.

I was married to Dave Ochala in 1988, immediately after our 10th year high school reunion which we both attended, so we’ve been married for 19 years. We have two beautiful children, Benjamin (1989) and Kirsten (1991). Benjamin is a freshman at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and he is majoring in Engineering. Kirsten is a junior in high school and she enjoys Spanish Club, Beta Club, and Cobb Youth Leadership.

I graduated from the University of Virginia in 1982 with a degree in History and Biology. I got out of school and immediately entered the computer engineering field. I met my wonderful husband through work at Wang Laboratories -- he is also in computer engineering as a Network Analyst. I worked for 18 years at one job, but for 3 different companies, as divisions were bought and sold. I started with a small company called Information Science, which was acquired by Computer Associates (for 10 years), which then sold my division to SSA Global Technologies, who then laid everyone off 4 years later. (Oh, the ups and downs of the technology sector!) Currently, I am a Senior Software Developer with a consulting company called CIBER, and I work as a consultant at the Georgia Dept. of Education in downtown Atlanta across from the state capital. I have a terrible commute, as anyone who is familiar with Atlanta’s legendary traffic surely knows. But, the weather in the sunny south is a little bit of heaven on earth, and nothing could persuade me to return north (especially when I see pictures from the blizzard of 2007 in Fulton, NY).
