BARBARA THOMPSON NICHOLS

I wasn't one of the popular group and never got involved with a lot of things during my school years for several reasons. I sure wish I had though. My mother didn't drive and my dad always worked late and we never had much money. I didn't join choir because we couldn't afford the dress. I did play on the girls volley ball team and remember going to a game in our coach's VW.

After graduating I met my husband and we got married in 1978. I now have 3 children. Our son graduated 2002 and now is in the Army and married. My oldest daughter is in high school and has been a Navy Sea Cadet since 2003 and is now also in the JROTC. My other daughter starts Kindergarten next year.

I only took a few classes through IRCC, mostly sign language because I used to worked with profoundly, trainable handicapped persons.

I started working when I was 11. I baby sat a 1 and 3 year old every day after school. I had several more baby sitting jobs after that. I started waitressing when I was 14 at a friend's restaurant. 5 days after turning 16 I started working at Winn-Dixie. Since then I have done more waitressing, driven trucks long distance, and worked in the public schools for 9 years. Now I manage the gym at our church. I work in the nursery and am our church's cook and prepare dinner for 75-100 of our church members every Wednesday night.

I started a family web site several years ago and haven’t been able to do much with it since my son left for the Army. The address is http://www.geocities.com/bnichols_family/Home.html
