Today's Featured Biography

Kinley Borden

Art director, writer, artist. Attended Pratt. Partner is the world’s leading Cher impersonator (for real– search ’Steven Andrade as Cher’) which means lots of travel, some exotic- Vietnam Fashion Week in Hanoi- and some, well, not so exotic: 3-city tour of Wisconsin. In the dead of winter. I’m along mainly as a quasi PR rep/manager/baggage Sherpa, and have sleeping in the center seat of any flight down to a science. My ‘real’ job is as art director specializing in branding/healthcare/pharma. It is rarely rewarding either creatively or financially but what I do since being downsized at the onset of the Great Crash (recession, whatever).

I’m working on getting my pilot’s license which turns out is a lot of fun AND because it’s got to be quicker flying yourself rather than all this TSA stuff and having to connect twice only to end up on some regional turbo prop just to get to Sacramento. I think I’m the oldest one there.

I boat on the Barnegat (out of Toms River)- know where the flounder hit and have managed to avoid SeaTow thus far- which is not to say I’ve never grounded. I have. But when that happens it’s because a) I forgot to keep my eyes on the nav unit, and b) it’s only 2-feet deep so you just lift the motors, get out… and PUSH! I kayak when possible, usually on our tours- search for manatees in vain in the Keys (spotted my first one oddly enough while doing a show in Condado, PR, but was told it was just a ‘wet dog’ which I seriously don’t think it was but I wasn’t about to question a security guard carrying a gun). Around here I road cycle on my Specialized Langster which is a sort of single speed track bike but instead of riding around in circles I like to actually go places. Like on actual roads. And I do it old school- no Super Hero spandex outfit or helmet. It’s safer. I think people aim for those Super Hero folks. It’s also when I get to catch up on all my NPR podcasts.

Won’t be attending the reunion mainly because I had an absolutely miserable time in high school but I do totally appreciate the awesome effort and time that’s been put into getting this all together. (Signed up because that bright red ‘MISSING’ under my name is just so sad, like on a milk carton). Hope you guys enjoy a terrific time!

Peace.
-Kinley
