Today's Featured Biography
Aubrey Johnson Anderson
I have lived on the west side since graduating from WSU in 2001. I have taught in the Sumner School District for six years, and currently teach eighth grade math. I received National Board Certification two years ago and am half way through my MA in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The funny thing is, after growing up in a household of teachers I swore I would not subject my own kids to the dinner conversations centered around testing, kid issues, and difficult parents, but I did, unknowingly. I chose wisely, I thought! Sam was going to school to become a computer animator, pretty much a far cry from education. Low and behold, after the dot com fallout, Sam turned to retail work. Strangely, a teaching position with Seattle Public Schools opened, and I found myself encouraging him to apply and writing his resume, cover letter, and coaching him for the interview. Needless to say, it has been 2 and a half years since then, and he has been teaching engineering, computer animation, and A+ Certification courses to high school students. We will have to utilize our dining room table for my childhood to be relived. I still have a chance!
Sam and I dated for 8 years prior to marrying April 1, 2006. We purchased our house in 2007, and discovered we were expecting a year later. Keelin McGrath Anderson arrived October 29, 2008.
