Today's Featured Biography
Kathleen Alaburda DeAngelis
Writing a bio is worse than putting together one of my Christmas letters, and this year, no one got one. So there's no excuse now.
25 years! How to sum it up? I graduated from UD with a degree in Mech. Eng. Worked for Westinghouse in New Orleans, Tulsa, OK and Houston, TX for about 2 1/2 years; quit and moved back home to DE. Lived and worked at home until my roommate from college moved to CA and I went with her. My first week in CA, I met my husband, Danny. We were engaged and married within 1 year. Danny is a Fire Captain for the city of South Pasadena. We have 2 kids, Kelli 13 and Mike 11, and an Aussie, Sydney.
I've been an at home mom forever. Worked a little at the local tennis club, for the free membership, substitute taught and did lots of sewing at home. A home sewing business evolved into my current bag business, KD Bags. Making and selling handbags wholesale keeps me busy and for 2005, I am changing the business again. This is no news for those who have kept in touch with me, they always marvel at the abundant changes that take place in my life! By the time we hit the reunion, I'm sure I'll have updated info.
I home school my kids because I see what junior high does to kids. They go to school on Monday and Wednesday, and are home the other days of the week. I started home schooling 3 years ago with Kelli and this is my first year with Mike. This has been wonderful for all of us. I've really gotten the opportunity to know my kids. And even enjoy them! Next year Kelli will be in high school, don't know if she will stay home or not - something to pray about.
Currently, we live in San Clemente,about 1 mile from the beach and do love it here. We have great friends and a wonderful church just out the neighborhood. Though it is getting very crowded here and someday I would like to move closer east.
I am saying, “I’m sorry” in advance because I have a habit of forgetting names of people I haven’t seen in a few years, and probably won’t remember yours come reunion date. Anyway, I truly look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
