Today's Featured Biography
Sharon Greer Thompson
Summary since graduation:
Started dating Roger before I graduated high school. Engaged by July 1980, without my parents even knowing it. Tried the college thing at Goldey Beacom following high school, but found that I was more interested in Roger than listening to another teacher. Left Goldey Beacom after about 1 1/2 months, didn't tell my mom I dropped out, she wasn't very happy when she found out Mom found out I was engaged by about January 1981, had already planned on getting married in February 1981, but changed those plans to March 1981.
Roger and I married on March 14, 1981, moved to Avondale, PA and very happy to say that we are still married and having fun.
Some of the jobs that I have done over the years: assistant to the secretary of a Wilmington lawyer; waitress at J. D. Luncheonette in Hockessin; worked for Fluorocoat in Avondale making a teflon coating and after Gore bought it out, I worked for W. L. Gore & Associates for 26 years doing various jobs; dabbled in car detailing over the years; worked for Thomas W. Springer, Inc. machine shop and recently helped out friends at their local sub shop. Taking it easy right now and looking at the job market to find out where my next adventure is going to be.
I had my first child, Summer Lynn, in August of 1983 and my second child, Roger, Jr., in November of 1985, missing the 5 yr. reunion to be home with a newborn. We lived in Avondale for 11 yrs., built a home in West Grove, PA in 1992 and are always trying to improve it somehow.
Summer took a few years off after graduating from high school in 2001, moved out on her own, is engaged, owns a home with her fiancee and is now attending Del Tech college studying Bio Tech and Chemistry.
Roger, Jr. attended Penn State University, a physics major and had been on the Dean's List throughout his college experience. He graduated August 2008 and landed a great job in July 2009.
My husband, Roger, is a workaholic and runs a local 100 acre horse farm and runs heavy equipment for a concrete business.
We have three dogs now, Ginger, Brutus, and Brandy. We lost Thor the day after Christmas 2008 due to cancer and lost my snake, Cleo, earlier this year, old age.
I volunteer at The Bridge Food Pantry and Clothing Closet in West Grove, PA. I assist The Bridge team with serving area families every week that are in need of food, clothing, furniture, household goods and most of all, a friendly smile and a "Hi, how are you this week." There is always someone out there that has a need greater than our own.
