Today's Featured Biography
Megan Ray Fechter
Wow, where do I begin? So much has happened in my life in the past ten years. All of you probably remember that I was pregnant senior year with my sweet Hannah, who is now ten (of course!) I was a single mom, working and going to college for almost four years after high school.
I had known Joey Fechter since preschool, and though we were friends we never dated. When he returned from serving a mission in Honduras, we fell head over heels in love and were married in March of 2000. That same year, I graduated from ASU with my teaching degree and started teaching junior high language arts at Barcelona Middle School.
After the birth of my son, Noah, in 2002, and since we had moved out to El Mirage, I switched jobs and began teaching in Dysart Unified School District. Soon after making that change, my husband and I both felt very strongly that I needed to be at home with the kids, so I quit my job. Immediately after quitting I found out I was pregnant with our daughter, Kendall, who born in 2004.
Since quitting my job I have done a number of different things to help support our family and to keep myself busy, first running a day care business out of our home, and my current job of working for the US Census Bureau. I like my job because I make my own schedule and only work about 40-50 hours every month. I'll probably continue this job for a few more years until my kids are all in school, and then I'll figure out what I want to after that--go back to teaching, or maybe something different. Who knows?
We now live in Copper Canyon Ranch in Surprise, and spend most of our free time with the kids and volunteering at church. And all of my free time lately has been planning this reunion! It will be great, so I hope to see all of you there!
