Great Job Class of 1988! We raised $865 with the charity raffle... all proceeds benefit 2 worthy causes… “Adopt A Child” program at Pacifica High School Members of the Senior class “adopt” students in need from another school and host a Christmas party complete with presents. Sound familiar? Our class participated in the program in 1988 and it still goes on year after year. Today's Featured Biography     David Muzik So far I've had a wonderful life, but I do regret not being more active and social at PHS. For the most part I kept to myself. My closest friends were under class men 89 and 90. We were into BMX, skateboarding, and surfing. After graduation I attended Cypress and Golden West Community Colleges and then transfered to CSULB. I received my BS in Civil Engineering from CSULB. I specialized in Environmental Sciences and started my career with Alton Geoscience in Irvine. A college class mate informed me about a better opportunity with Arthur D Little and I was hired on to work for the city of Santa Monica. I helped design and manage the installation of soil and water remediation throughout the city. While living in Laguna Beach I meet Scharla Miller from Encinitas. We got married August 6, 1998 in Las Vegas. We moved to L.A. were we wanted to live in the Canals of Venice. We settled for Culver City. When the Santa Monica contract expired, I had to start traveling more for work. Since we were newly married and work was taking me to many cities across the country, we agreed that my career was not healthy for our marriage. I quit and started a new career in retail. I was hired as a supervisor at the Pasadena Trader Joe's. Our daughter Ava was born at UCLA. Shortly there after we moved to Huntington New York on Long Island. We lived on the beach and I was able to continue surfing. Hurricane season brought good waves but the water was bitter cold. I was able to surf nearly every break from MA to FL. James, Brianna, and Emma were born on Long Island. In June of 2004 Trader Joe's asked me to open a new store in Columbus Ohio. We love Columbus. Harrison and Sophia were born at Saint Anne's in Westerville. About once a year I get to visit Cali and do a little surfing. I still skate and I take my kids to all the local skate parks. The local groms get a kick watching the old dude getting vert in the pool. The groms have taught me a few new tricks but I still prefer pools and ramps. Last Christmas I decided to start commuting by bike. I sold my car and I ride every day regardless of weather conditions. Sounds crazy, but I love riding back county roads in a light snow before the sun rises. Though I am no longer in the environmental field, I still teach and lead by example to make my carbon footprint as small as possible. I consider myself a vegetarian, but I do occasionally eat meat. Someday I will become a vegan, I'm having a hard time giving up cheese. On April 6, 2008 my wife Scharla, daughter Ava, and I were baptized and confirmed into The Church of Latter Day Saints. We have many wonderful friends and I couldn't image us moving from Columbus. I'm glad Michael Deprete sent me a card regarding our 20-year reunion. Since it's our 10-year anniversary, I will not be attending the reunion, but I am looking forward to browsing this site and reading bios. I want to stay in touch and I will attend future events and reunions. I would also like to thank everyone on the reunion committee for finding our classmates and organizing what I know will be a great reunion.
