Today's Featured Biography
John Kloster
I got here while looking for other information about some classmates, but I will take the time to give a quick summary of my time since high school.
Greg Davies and I went to Europe by freighter, arriving just before JFK was killed. We traveled across most of Europe, the Middle East, and touched on north Africa. Greg became lonesome for Carolyn Cervantes so he returned a few months be I did. They are still happily married and have a few grown up kids.
I graduated from San Jose State in '67 and went to Vietnam for a tour. Upon returning I went to grad school, then took a job with Coldwell Banker (the commercial side), moved to Bellevue, WA three years later, and because regional manager for Appraisal and Consultation Services. After 20 years of that I started my own company which also included developing some warehouses and a shopping center.
As of this writing (Nov, 2007) I feel I am semi-retired, and started searching for something else to do with the rest of my life. So, I spent some time in China and Vietnam (very beautiful country and one to which I had always wanted to return). Combining sightseeing and business enquiry I have recently begun to explore a sourcing business which may include everything from finding manufacturers for parts for US companies, finding US companies who would like to consider using our Asian clients' companies for any one of a number of services or products.
In 1967, while in the Army, I was married to my college sweetheart, Colleen Chun. We had three children, a daughter and twin sons before she passed away from a heart arryhthmia (now where is there a spell checker when I need one) in 1985. I remarried in 1987 to a pharmacist named Nancy Hirabayashi.
A typical life has been going on since. My daughter, Alison, is due to deliver my first grandchild, a girl named Amalia, in a couple weeks. My son Tyler got married this summer, and his twin, Bryce, got engaged to a doctor who is in her pediatric residency, so the grandkids health care seems to be working out well.
I enjoy traveling, but will never live long enough to experience all the places in my dreams.
If any of you need a place to stay while visiting Seattle, give me a shout. If you come during the summer, arrange it during the week we have our annual Pig Party, a luau, at our beach house at Lakebay near Gig Harbor. (It's on the map). It starts on Friday night with preparation of the pig and a sing at the fire pit. The lawn gets covered with tents and sleeping bags, and some people prefer to stay at the state park next door, a short walk through the woods. On Saturday and Sunday the tents are moved to make way for volleyball. But there are a number of other activities including skiing, wakeboarding and other pull toys, sailing, kayaking, paddleboating, hiking along the beach or through the forest in the state park. Lots of stuff to do.
I guess that's about it for now. Would sure like to hear from some of you, even if you don't remember me.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
