Victoria Villaroman Abadilla

Thank you OHS for keeping the reunions going… looking forward to seeing all of you this August.

I live in Oceanside and have been here for the past ~28 years. Attended USD, San Diego and received my BA in Sociology. in 1979, married my ‘honeybunny’, Edwin. This year Sept 1st will be our 35th wedding anniversary, where did the time fly?

We have 3 children, Guy 33, Lisa 27 and Anna 23 and our dog Leah 11. Our daughter Lisa has 2 sons, age 5 & 2. We love being grandparents!! They call us ‘Papa and ‘Mamas’, we give them so much love, and they give us so much joy…..

In 2004, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer stage 3. Our world changed drastically, what a year. I look back and very grateful for family, friends and church. Many biopsies, surgeries and treatments, and most of great team of doctors, I am a 10 year survivor.

My husband and I are still working. Ed works at Fair Isaac, ‘aka’ FICO as a Quality Engineer. I work at Nokia as a Project Manager Regulatory Certification. During our careers we were fortunate to work together at the same company’s (Hughes/Document Science), not wise when corporations ‘restructure’. For some reason, I would be the chosen one to get laid off, however we managed. I do miss working for Hughes Aircraft in Carlsbad and was saddened when this site closed. My husband use to surf at lunch and my supervisor and I trained at lunch/afterwork, ‘power walking’. We were in great shape then and participated in many 5K’s, around the county. Now working at Nokia for the past 15 years, I have had the opportunity to travel abroad, I work and my family enjoys. Took my daughter to Beijing, she shopped. My husband to Copenhagen, he golfed and hung with the locals. The hotel gave him this nickname ‘Eddy Hotel’.. too funny and in Beijing he tried indoor tennis, air quality bad. We tried the famous Peking duck, it’s OK. Many fun memories, I travelled… England, Germany, Finland, Taipei. Our target for retirement is 2016.

Our sport ‘Tennis’ keeps us fit and young at heart. We both play at Vista Tennis Club and belong and participate in several leagues during the year. Ed’s a 4.0 level player and I’m 3.5. We both play competitive and social tennis, these days more social than competitive. We like hangin out, being outside, talk tennis, eat and drink. Our passion is watching WTA/ ATP, we go each year to Paribas Tennis in Palm Desert. Our goal when we retire, travel in RV and follow Pro Tennis tour and maybe baseball, golf. We also enjoy fishing at the pier, we call it family day/people watching. Our grown children look forward to family day at the pier… what we catch, we eat..very delicious. My son/husband play golf as well. I am not really into golf, too many hours to play, I like tennis. I may attempt, at least I have my own lefty golf clubs.
